Please help... I'm losing the will to live.
So... I had the dreaded screeching noise when trying to apply the EPB. So... my EPB activator thingy has been changed for another one (second hand but from a trusted seller). I've also fitted new brake shoes. But, no change. The screeching is still there and the parking brake still won't apply. I've got MOT in a couple of weeks so starting to get desperate. Can anyone suggest what I could try... PLEASE.
Please Help!!! EPB conundrum and MOT approaching.

Have you re calibrated it? I.e been through the setup routine exactly as described in Bodsy's break bible? Set up correctly with a good actuator they work perfectly. If it squeals its gone past the point it should do. And despite being reputable, it could be a knacked one!

Thanks for replying...
Re-calibrated? Do you mean the bedding in? I tried the EPB bedding in, but because the actuator was already screeching, it wouldn't go into 'Park Break Bedding Cycle'

Also... the cogs in the motor all appear to be in good condition

Yes the bedding in procedure - but you have to properly adjust the shoes in the drum first which is all in the Brake bible - if the shoes are too far from the drums, then they have to be pulled too far and the actuator runs out of travel.
But if its squealing, the cogs are not going to last. You absolutely have to get the initial adjustment right before you do anything.

If the replacement is squealing, stating the obvious, something is wrong, as it is travelling to far. Who replaced the unit? Are the brake shoes worn? Are the brakes adjusted correctly? Are the brake cables moving okay and fitted properly?
