You can buy VAGComm cables quite cheap on eBay, not sure if they come with software though

+1 for Vag Com, very versatile, not sure if it can do all that you would with MSV2 but it's close, you can download it from here -

But it first tries to establish connection with the interface which need to be a Ross Tech registered device, not so sure how you'd get on with one of the eBay ones?

Not sure you can do much like sat Nav stuff with VAG Comm, but ISTR it is good for engine remapping etc.
