Upgrade from D3 to D4 BT Phone Module
The upgrade from a D3 BT Module to a D4 BT module is relatively straight forward.
You need a T50 Bit and a T20 Bit, a Phillips bit and a pair of jumper cables such as these....
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/single-pin-in ... pack-a39gf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Starting in the drivers side middle row seats (RHD) and put the first seat down (I'm assuming that the 3rd row seats are already down)
(I'll add photos later)
Remove the D shaped plastic cover with a plastic 'thing' or careful with a screwdriver
Undo the large crosshead screw that is behind it.
Move down to the big T50 screw that holds the seatbelt lower mount in place and undo it.
Then pop off the plastic panel along the door line so that you can reach the D3 BT module.
The D3 module is held in by a single Torx20 screw in the middle.
Undo it. You can then get to the connectors which you need to disconnect.
You only need to re-connect to the D4 module, the orange MOST cable connector and the positive pin from the car connector Pin 16 to the D4 Module Pin 31
The negative goes from the car connector Pin 33 or 34 to the D4 Module Pin 15.
Then simply cable tie or velcro the new module in place.
The Benefits are:-
Improved Audio quality, this is both for you and for the person you're speaking to. It's quite a jump up in quality and reduction in background noise.
Improved display, shows not only the signal strength but also the network you are on
Improved Phone Book. Capacity to store numbers increases from 300 on the existing one to 1,000 on the new D4 Module.
Improved Contacts - select a name and be able to select whether it's Home or Work etc (depending on the length of the contact name)
Something new and Shiny! We all like something nice and Shiny to brighten up the new year, so this is a perfect opportunity for the SWMBO friendly (i.e. they wont see it) but you know you have the best option available for the car.
I have a number of these D4 modules that can be made available at an advantageous price, but ONLY when exchanging for your existing D3 module. The Module MUST be in working order, but does not have to be the latest software. As long as you enter the 2121 code and it works, then that is fine for me. (with the exception of modules with the number XVJ5000042 which cannot be updated) So please check this first!
If, on receipt of your module, it is found to be faulty and cannot be updated, then the full (although still discounted) price would be applicable.
So this is a cheap way for you to get the latest D4 modules with better sound and functionality, for a bargain price.
The normal price for the D4 modules on their own is £220-270 (depending where you go).
I can offer this ON AN EXCHANGE FOR YOUR D3 MODULE BASIS price of £140 posted to you.
Please let me know if you are interested.
