Quick Turkey Pie

Post by Stu » Sat Dec 29, 2012 8:55 am

So, like most of you, we have turkey left over.

So last night I made a quick turkey pie.

Got one tin of chicken soup, some mixed herbs, a small amount of whole grain mustard and heated it all up. Made a roux of arrowroot and milk ( you could use corn flour as well or be posh and make a proper roux with butter and flour).

Heated the soup with everything in it, except for the arrowroot. When it was near the boil I added the arrowroot to thicken it. Then added remain of turkey meat along with some chopped bacon also left over from the top of the bird. Then I put the whole lot in a dish, covered with puff pastry and egg washed it. Lobbed it in the oven for 20 odd mins until the pastry was done and then scoffed it. Awesome!

Nope, Georgie and I had pie, Harry made her own Turkey and Tomato turn over. Vic made herself a turkey cheese and tomato tartlet and Hermione had Pizza!

Chaos in the kitchen, but good fun.
