Trick with the ferry is to do it before the hideously expensive July & Aug, plus it's 800 miles from Calais to the ferry terminal. Loooooooooooooong boring road trip.

well i looked in September and its £1200 return. That's a huge amount of money. Way over what I could bring myself to pay for an off road jaunt.
