As that was all i played with i did wonder Stu, but it's before the models that come with trailer control. I was wondering whether it was just shorting out and Browning out the power to the gearbox.
The offer thing is that the drive-ins is no longer as busy as it was. Im now wondering whether i should remove the heat shield tunnel from the pro shaft and see whether there's some plastic or for that's hour into they're

I did wonder about Stu that as it's the only thing i played with, however trailer control came several years after my model and far as i know it doesn't try and lock the wheels!
I'm now wondering whether i should remove the long heatshield that covers my propagation and see if there's some type of plastic wrapped around in there.
One of the after effects is that there's a lot less transmission noise now than there was before the incident. Still odd!

Does sound like the ABS kicked in for some reason.

ABS/steering sensor are good possibilities, thanks,, but wouldn't I have heard that "twanging" noise you get from ABS/Hill Descent etc? This was violent - much more violent than I get from using the park brake at 70mph....although I guess I'm expecting that so it's possible.

I still haven't managed to get the transmission tunnel heat-shield off, so haven't seen in there around the prop shaft and u-joint yet. Original shaft/u-joint too, so there's probably still evidence of my stupidity at Slindon hiding in there

All the CV boots and half shafts are in good order, and there's nothing visible around the brake calipers. After the vandalism to the car a couple of years ago I did wonder if some tool had dropped a bolt/screw into the vent holes around the brake disc and this worked it's way out over time and started clipping the caliper. Before this happened there was a road noise like you get with a big stone in the tread and afterwards all was silent. The final third lurch of the car could IMHO have been caused by something jamming into the wheel/caliper and stopping the wheel for a fraction of a second before it sheered; I wasn't kidding when I said it felt like a stick in the spokes as the car jumped several inches into the air.

I remain confused how I could get an F in the gear display, which did not clear from a cycle of the ignition, yet have absolutely no error codes on the IID from engine, transmission or transfer box.

P.S. Sorry about the double post below; tapatalk doesn't show the new posts I make at the moment, so I thought it'd lost it (like several earlier ones that went awol) and I tried to remember what I wrote...

The tapatalk addin is very much out of date, compared with the app. It will get sorted along with the update - when time is available!

Wasn't a complaint Mark; just saying that its behaviour is a little suspect!
