This is going to be brief with a few iPhone pics.
Firstly, the upper tailgate latch is actually inside the lower tailgate.
Open upper & lower TG, then remove the top edge trim from the lower TG. 4 caps, 4 screws then prize up an off. It's held on with the usual white clips.
Then the restraining cables need releasing. I used a small screwdriver to do this. They can be slowly allowed to retract back to the body.
Remove the pins that the restraining cables clip on to.
Prize off the tailgate cover, again it's only held on with the white clips.
Cut open the insulating barrier to expose the solenoid mechanism, then unscrew it from the TG.
Unscrew the 3 screws holding the lock-catch to the lower TG.
Remove the whole assembly.
Remove the cover of the solenoid housing.
Release the old cable and fit the new one.
Reassembly in reverse order
Replace the Upper Tailgate Latch

Re: Replace the Upper Tailgate Latch
Thank you Marc. iPhone's aren't that great for pics, but it's very easy to upload from them in to a thread. I like an easy life
