I'd give Hankook UK a ring and ask what they are going to do about it, and if they don't act fast say you'll be onto VOSA given the seriousness of the issue.

If those are 2009/10 tyres then unless you've don'e something really silly that's scary!

The manufacturer of these tyres is one of the largest global tyre manufacturers I believe.

There's clearly a serious issue with these and I would have thought that you would have some recourse either via the van dealer if you bought it new or from the manufacturer.

You need to check DOT number on the tyre for the actual manufacture date, we had to change the tyres on out van that us 4 years old as the tyres were cracking in the tread.... The tyres were 6 years old
The cracks were nowhere near as bad as yours though!

I have a set of AT2s on 18s on my D3. They've been on since they were bought new nearly 7 years ago, have plenty of tread left, have done 40k+ miles and have no signs of cracking etc.

Should they be changed?

Phil

I have a similar setup, there is no reason to change them unless there are signs of deterioration. I give mine the once over occasionally. Main problem is the alloys deteriorating!

Thanks Tony. So no real issue with the actual age of the tyre just the overall condition of an individual tyre?

Ill get onto Hankook, I know tyre's age if left in the sun or left standing but not over 3 years.

Good point about VOSA

You don't have those tyre band things fitted in case of puncture to stop the tyre coming off the rim do you ?

Yes - why do you think they have something to do with it?

I have seen some which are the width of the rim and it could be that if it is that type the ridge your seeing is caused by the band deforming the tyre sidewall. Either that or perhaps the wrong size was fitted.

It is only a suggestion, but worth checking when you get new tyres to be sure.
