What else were they checking for? Did you have the pleasure of a weigh in?

I get more than that towing a twin axle - and thought what I get was bad - something like 20mpg to/from the opener. I do keep the speeds legal though

We got stopped last year on m5 too, was police and vosa in joint operation.

They do this regularly at busy times. Got pulled into services and they weighed each axle on car and then each axle on caravan. Car was ok but caravan was well over  fully loaded the van is allowed to be about 1800kg but weighed in at 2050kg

I still don't understand why it was so over weight? All fluids emptied etc etc

I took them into the van and I'm sure they expected that it was full of all sorts of stuff but it was fairly empty. Loaded over the axle and items secured.

The policeman could not understand it and told me just to go quickly before the vosa people come back as they would do me ! I did not need asking twice...

The policeman also said that if I took the van empty to a weigh bridge and it turned out the empty weight was wrong I could get it rebadged. This has reminded me that I need to get that done before I next go down the M5 :thumbright:

Christ Ian, I get 16mpg out of the 'Charger towing a twin axle Coachman, one of the heaviest vans going. :o

Whereabouts on the M5 did you get pulled though? Only asking as I've not had that pleasure yet and given what SWMBO packs up we'd be well over unless I thin it all out a bit.

Pretty sure there wasn't much chance of us being overweight. They didn't weigh us which is a shame as I was hoping they would. It was northbound, around junction 10ish whatever services are north of that. I could look thought the Blackvue, but that would involve me going out to the carpark....

I have to say, I think I have a problem with the car and have been low on power for a long time. Not like an EGR failure, but like as if the intercooler was blocked up and just not getting enough cooling.
Intercooler and rad was changed to see if that made a difference and it didn't really. No error codes, no engine shut downs, just feels as though the mid range is a bit short of where it should be.
Thinking about a remap, but really wanting to fix the std power before adding extra.

Need to give it a service at the weekend, but I'm not hopeful of it changing anything as it's been this way for probably 30k or maybe even since the new engine went in 43kmiles ago....

I had a shocking consumption figure from my Td5 whilst hauling my 'van once, as well as a seeming lack of oomph - it was eventually traced to a knackered air flow meter. I thought that this wouldn't have much effect in normal running, but I can assure you it did!!! :o
