TV
I would like to get a decent TV for the tintent.
Looking online I can see 22" is about the biggest 12v I can get and they seem very expensive. I'm generally assuming we'll have hookup so can I get a TV and run it on an inverter if required? I assume modern tv's don't draw much juice? Not actually looked but I'd rather buy a decent TV than some expensive to with a :censored: picture just because it's 12v

Re: TV
I bought an Avtex. 24". 12v, 240v, onboard satellite, onboard freeview. 720p picture which is lovely.
As you say, expensive. Given you'll very often be on a hook-up I wouldn't bother again. Just (if you can find one) go for a regular 24" to 30" telly. None of them are heavy on current now the good old CRT is history.

Re: TV
I did have a little look and 25w seems to be normal so that's about 2amps so that seems pretty decent and a cheap inverter should so that out. Need to see what a 47" LED is thoughts I think I can squeeze one in where the front window is!
Actually I did think a 27" might be about as big as we would want to go.

Re: TV
led is certainly the way to go for power consumption but not a major playing game compared with lcd. Worth having a look at pc monitors though My samsung led 22" cost £100 a few years ago. Probably much cheaper now. Has a transformer to take it from 240-12v. I think dc too? Then just a case of snipping the transformer off. It also has inputs in hdmi and rgb. The new ones have some other inputs I think so could easily get something to convert to AV inputs. Something like this may work http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/25238716 ... pla&crdt=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
An idea anyway as it seems when you put the words camping and tv together the price goes silly high.

Re: TV
Stu, if you put the TV in the front, with your U shaped lounge you will have a nightmare. Our old Elddis was like that and one of the 2 reasons I changed it, to get a traditional lounge with the TV more towards the kitchen.
Suggestion of a PC monitor is a good one. Just need a freesat box to go with it.

Re: TV
Are the shelves above strong enough to put a drop down swivel bracket with TV you can remove.
We used to use a small 10" TV with DVB, DVD player etc, was 12V and mains via mains brick. Was made by Nextbase, I bought it for work as a small TV monitor originally.

Re: TV
There is a space for the TV between the dinnet and the seating. It has an aerial point and a 12v point. A monitor is a good idea but I then need another box to give me a picture and that means another plug. I'm trying to keep that down as there are only 3 sockets in it. I know I will have to add some more but I want to try and keep the wires down.

Re: TV
I just cut all the cables to about the right length so as not to have spaghetti hanging everywhere. One socket can easily take a doubler. Mind you, we have 7 mains and 3 of the 12v sockets in our van.
