If we can get it so we just stick clothes and food in the car then we can pick it up and drop it off on route without having to bring it home to pack etc. Hopefully that will ease the hassle. For this to work for me it needs to be very minimal hassle!

Our's was quite a way from us, 30 minutes each way really. Should have looked for a closer one.

That's what we do mate. All I have in the car are the clothes, coolbox full of food and the dogs. Collect the van on the way, drop it off on the way back. Meant to ask, do you have those ALKO wheel lock things? On a twin axle they're hard to fit if you don't have a trolley jack. Small one in a blow moulded case is fine to keep in the car.

Bear in mind though, for that to work you need stuff in the van all the time, i.e. Cleaning materials, hoover (forget the 12v portable things, they're useless) Toiletries, towels etc. We always clean the van before the trip home, I do the outside and Karen does the inside. That way it's clean when we next use it.

If you want our levels of OCD, we have a caravan suitcase. This holds all the van stuff which needs to come home, i.e. towels for laundry, cloths, dirty linen, basically all the stuff that if you just shove it in last minute you A: take up a load of space in the car and B: you always end up forgetting something on the next trip because it got washed and put away - in the house. How do I know this? :headbang:

Thanks Dom - makes a lot of sense to me! I'm going to go for a Ryobi Vac and then it will use the same battery as my drill for the legs. So I'll see how that goes.

Yes, for the better :thumbright:

Outcomes Andy, Outcomes. The method of obtaining them is largely irrelevant.

I'm still chuckling too. :P

Actually you can see the space for the TV in this photo:

That looks like a single 240v socket with the heating controls above it?? Is there a 12v socket there as well?

Reason I ask is you could have the TV on 240v and the Freesat box on 12v. Pretty much all the Freesat boxes are 12v with a mains adapter so you just need to make up a cable.

Or a double socket thingy will do what you need. Skanky things though.

Could always use a small extension lead or box plug thingy (the square splitters you get)
