Birthday Bash
I'm looking to organise a club Birthday weekend and would like people's input as to why they would like and how a weekend might look.
My random list of thoughts and ideas are:
Pay and play day including:
Punch challenge
Gymkhana
Lunch time bbq
Activities / events for children
Could look to include activities for adults as well such as quad biking or anything else people want to suggest
Evening spent at a campsite with caravan and camping facilities and ideally a B&B or other accommodation on site for those who don't do the outdoor thing.
Bbq in the evening
Wondered about a live band?
Wondered about fireworks?
Any other ideas?
Day 2 a day of lanes? Maybe with some sort of challenge?
Should this be over a normal weekend or would a bank holiday be good?
What other ideas have people got?
I'm happy for the club to subsidise the event so please feel free to suggest some ideas that might not be financially viable for a normal event / weekend.

Re: Birthday Bash
Sounds good to me Stu. Would want to take the tintent and probably arrive on friday evening. Depends on dates though but doesn't necessarily have to be a bank holiday weekend for me.
Activities need to cater for families I reckon, so perhaps some pay & play, lanes but also some kids stuff (quads are a decent idea) & wifey stuff like washing up .....and I quote....."Anything that doesn't involve getting thrown around in the back of an off roader"
Thinking about kiddie stuff I see LR Experience are now doing dual controlled Evoques for 11's and over. Just a thought if it was near one of their sites.
Deffo need a BBQ, one the size of Simon's so we can all get round it. I'm happy to provide beer if we know what sort of quantities and types are needed. Will be doing a booze cruise with my Brother in January sometime and the Full-Fat has a payload of 950kg If we grovel to the God of NSN we might get lucky with some BBQ fodder.
Can this BBS do a sign up with options? Perhaps list out suggestions and pick the 4 most popular??

Re: Birthday Bash
We can do something like that. Let's gather the options first and then go from there.
Thanks for the feedback Dom - really appreciate it.
The more ideas the better the event imho.
I like the idea of kids driving (obviously supervised etc).

Re: Birthday Bash
Up for a beer & BBQ camping w/end. Not after pay & prey, laning, kids stuff or wife swapping, just a quiet w/end away from the toil of home.
If only I could think of something useful to type here!!

Take it that's not an offer to help organise then....DSL wrote:Up for a beer & BBQ camping w/end. Not after pay & prey, laning, kids stuff or wife swapping, just a quiet w/end away from the toil of home.
Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Re: Birthday Bash
Thanks Nick. Del I suspect the birthday bash weekend might not fit with your requirements although you don't have to do any lanes or pay and play. The last gymkhana events we did at a play site were challenging but not remotely damaging for example start a point A and reverse so that your tow bar is directly over a 10p on the ground. These sort of days are as challenging or non challenging as you make them.

Re: Birthday Bash
I like the idea of some laning etc, definitely family fun,
BBQ is a must
Camping / caravaning
Climbing wall for kids and alike
Maybe some of NSN tug of war ideas with the rubber inner tube
I'd be more than happy to help wherever possible ( apart from the off roading suggestions )

Re: Birthday Bash
Agree with many of the others.
Pay and play (although I'm pretty tame and won't push it)
Gymkhana
BBQ
In terms of kids stuff, I'm wondering if there's some basic games we could organise? Maybe some scout examples could lead to something - and I'd be happy to help organise any of that.
I used to do archery and would have no issue doing some of that for the older kids but kit would be an issue, and with potentially only one 'tutor' only a couple of people could shoot at a time .
Going back to the scouts idea, perhaps have a kids punch challenge?

Re: Birthday Bash
Don't hate me, I haven't thought this through yet, but a club Birthday celebration needs something to say thanks to the other halves and children for letting us play with big boys toys in the first place...we need something better than a bottle of sherry..
Regards, Dom.
