Oil Leaks

Post by XDAndy » Sun Aug 09, 2020 10:48 am

Dear all

My D4 has been struggling with an oil leak that seemingly can’t be found by the dealer.

I looks like engine oil, originally thinking from the front (perhaps crankshaft seal during belt change 18 months ago?), but then lots of oil at the back of the engine on closer inspection.

Posted a topic on ‘the other forum’, with photos, but zero response.

Any thoughts, as reluctant to let an oil leak go unresolved and not keen on the idea of letting the dealer lapse the warranty because they can’t find it.

Many thanks

Andy

It could still come from the front and get blown back. Has the gearbox been topped up with oil recently as the overflow is via a pipe into the bell housing. Failing that check up on top of engine and see if its coming from up there

Leaking from the oil breather seals it a leak on the oil filter housing. Either the seal or a crack in the housing possibly.
