EGR Fault Codes
I have an EUIV engine and I have been getting two EGR faults one includes A which I believe is the right hand side the other has C...
Has anyone come across this before as I understood the codes were A and B for left and right side valves?
Also, is changing the EGR valve a relatively simple job or do I need any special tools?
Finally, can anyone recommend somewhere to buy replacement valves at a good value price? I don't want to pay Land Rover prices but don't want to waste my money on something that will fail in a couple of months.
TIA
Regards
Trevor

Re: EGR Fault Codes
Trevor,
I cannot recall how left and right are reported, so hopefully someone with a working brain will be able to confirm for you.
Advanced factors seem to be a reliable supplier of good quality at a good price. though there are also some LR dealers with a good rep who can supply Denso parts in place of LR (same part, different label & price).
When it comes to changing the valves they are relatively straightforwards. Personally I have found that removing the battery box side and base on each side of the car takes an extra 20 minutes and saves at least an hour of trying to claw your massive hands onto a tiny loose bolt in a restricted space. Your mileage may vary based on the size of your hands
Easier still of course is to get an EGR patch from Bell Auto Services, after which your EGRs will no longer be required other than to show the ECU they are electrically connected. This is a good option if you already have a Bluetooth IID tool from GAP.

Re: EGR Fault Codes
Or indeed, I can blank/patch with or without a remap.
The cheaper egr valves are about £170 istr
genuine ones are about £270

Re: EGR Fault Codes
Thanks pillowsmuggler and bodsy
I have the IID tool and have currently fitted the blanking kit and have flashed it with the BAS EGR patch.
However, the EGR valves were knackered before the patch was put on and they are still causing all sorts of problems which is why I need to fit a cheap set of valves on and then go back and either leave them fully fitted or blank them off again.
Hope that makes sense...

Re: EGR Fault Codes
It's not your egr giving you problems if you've blanked them and done the BAS software patch. I've blanked hundreds and usually most are already faulty.
Give me a call if easier to talk through the symptoms but replacing egr valve will be a waste of time.

Re: EGR Fault Codes
You did remove the centre butterfly valve flap didn't you?
C is the centre valve.
The codes will always show but won't affect anything when blanked and patched.
What problems are you actually getting?

Re: EGR Fault Codes
Hi, I'm new on here. I have been a member of the other d3 owners club for years, but while googling an issue I'm having the search result which matched best were on here. Would you mind if I jumped on to this thread as I seem to be having the same issue I believe.
