Leatherman

Post by Stu » Tue Jun 07, 2016 6:16 pm

I bought a Leatherman Surge about 8 years ago. I think it's a great bit of kit. I did however have an issue with the pliers, I ended up with only one side after:

1 - Using them to hold something on a gas stove
2 - Using them to hold a bolt whilst an impact wrench was being used to drive a nut into it.

So I thought I'd send it off to Leatherman for repair.

I sent it off, back within a week, and no charge and a brand new leatherman! Fantastic service, I'm very impressed and the new model has had a couple of tweaks.

Great service, as good as LED Lenser service. Have had a few foc replacement torches even when I admitted it was my fault (leaking batteries as they were left in the torch in a baking hot boat). And got a replacement H6 headtorch after the battery gubbins ended up in pieces, not the most successful fiddling by me.

I haven't managed to break my Leatherman. Yet.

Leatherman are used by the broadcast industry by all the wire men and engineers.

They are amazing bits of kit.

I have two of them, the Surge which is the all singing all dancing big one and a Wingman which is a smaller version. Might have to get one to keep in the Caravan!

We know! Well Nick Richard and I know. I still remember Nick calling me when I was in Florida and he was in Texas. I assumed something serious had happened as he knew we were in the US. Turns it out was just to discuss your Birthday present!

I got the "oht" for a crimbo pressy with a nice custom engraving on the blade. So far have managed to not use it. With some camping coming up it will remain on the belt the entire time in readiness.

I like the idea of the bracelets that recently released but not something I would walk around with
