New Head Torch

Post by Stu » Fri Oct 30, 2015 7:21 pm

I'm fancying a new head torch.

I'm normally a Petzl guy but could consider a change.

Any suggestions?

I don't want anything too heavy and I don't often need a very bright light but having been looking for Explorer Scouts in a big recently I'd be interested in something with a bright option as long as I can have a less bright working light.

Needs to be robust and reliable.

LED Lenser H7.2 would be what I'd look at if I lost my other 2 LL head torches. :thumbright: http://www.ledlenser-store.co.uk/head-t ... Akdo8P8HAQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or the H5 for £22. Cheap as fish & chips for two plus black pud for dogs.

If only I could think of something useful to type here!! :(

The h7.2r is a great unit, but not overly I bust if you're going to be dropping it in Marshland. But very bright if needed with spot function which is great for pinpointing stuff. Also dull if you turn it down.
If the rechargeable pack runs out, just put AAA's in instead. :thumbright:

I have both the H5 and the H7.2r, I use the 5 for running as its lighter at the front and the battery pack is smaller, I use the .2r at work as its incredibly bright and lasts for ages. It's a bit heavier but i mount it on my hard hat so it doesn't matter much.

It's plenty robust, must have dropped mine 20 times on to hard surfaces, chuck my hard hat in the boot with it attached every time I use it. No problems - still holds its position, still adjusts its focus and brightness.

Battery and usb charging are great.

Would recommend!

H7.2r end of for me. Those winter outside jobs that have to wait no longer gave to wait as it like working in day light! Think I spoil the Cubs recent night hike though as it was like a day hike with my lamp on

I'll take a look at the Lenser and Alpkit.

I'll probably end up with a Petzl knowing me, but we'll see.

Any views on the LED Lenser SEO7R?

They do one that is 2000 lumens - that's just nuts!

I like the look of that Stu, smaller than the h7.2r and more in line with the old Skool petzl
