Simon, do you happen to know if those LEDs require a driver? Many of those COB strips don't have built in current limiters so although they will be bright for a while they can go pop due to thermal runaway (resistance drops as they get hotter, so more current, so more heat etc etc). Admittedly at under a couple of quid delivered they're almost a disposable item...I now have several on order to make some under bonnet work lights

Ahh, that's probably why they work well then, you won't reach 14.5v like the car can deliver. I'll order some drivers, they're only a couple of quid too, though annoyingly more than the leds
