A tent with shower and crapper is called a caravan.. Stop being on the fringe!
That is indeed the trouble. I don't want the caravan label! I'll leave that for the old farts who are too old to appreciate a bit of outdoor life. If I wanted to have an indoor shower I'd stay at home.

Caravans are for people who want to go on holiday but are actually too afraid to leave their home. They want to have all their home comforts but without getting near the outdoors but they feel the need to say that they went away, yet actually they've just temporarily moved homes home and are probably closer to less desirable neighbours.

Loads of tintenters seem to just use it for two weeks a year - that's madnes you can stay in a very nice hotel for far less per night than it actually costs in a poo box on wheels.

Nick and Maureen seem to have the tintent thing right, essentially they use it as an extension of their home with different views most weekends - that seems to make some sense to me. The rest of you are just nuts.

I am afraid to leave home unless the hotel has a rating of less than 4 stars. Let's be honest, any less than 4 stars and you might not get a mint on the pillow.

Camping is for when there are no hotels

How many family nights in a tent this year Stu?
Wouldn't dream of going away on Hols for weeks in the van, but magic for just getting out the house for the weekend. 4 of our weekends this year were within 15 miles of home, but a field is a field!
Anyway, if you want to make the shower a small heat exchanger plumbed into the cooling system would give you 20-30 litres of hot water for about 12 hours after engine off.. Had one on the floating van when we had it. Can get you trade prices!

"How many family nights in a tent this year Stu"

Definitely not enough to justify buying a tintent. Also when you look at the nights I have been away, quite a few of them wouldn't be possible with a tintent RIAT for example.

It's hardly getting away from home comforts taking a heated shower on your car, fridge, all the lights and a big cooker. Your taking the home comforts and putting them in a canvas caravan, I believe you even have a tent carpet  :rasp:

You need to be washing in a cold stream making your own plant extract soap to wash with, you hippy

When I was a boy, you did proper camping, the air bed was not for comfort, it was to keep you afloat when the tent filled with water.

We had a team of Scouts who did their gold D of E (read should have known a lot better) who camped in a nice dry gully. Turned out it was a river bed and that night it chucked it down. They woke up floating. The fortunate thing was that it was their last night.
