Post by roger » Thu Dec 11, 2014 7:03 pm

Did anyone already purchased these magnetic protections or something similar?

This is quite a complete kit till the roof and they say it's proved until 160 kmh

I think Steve Smith (Slippery) has some. He has bright orange, but not sure if they are the same ones in your link.

I would think they would be pretty good. Could have done with them before my Hampshire Spectacular reccy.

From what I recall SlapHead's stuff is actually an adhesive film rather than magnetic. His mate Pete does it and seems to be able to knock most things up.

If I'm not mistaken 160kph is 100mph - what happens if you hit more than that - does it peel off like a banana...?

I thought the only disadvantage to these Magnetic panels was that the paint had to be extremely clean of grit etc before application, otherwise the panels would create more scratching than they prevent.

To me though I think they look great, Roger, your car would look the business with the Zebra print panels.

Mine came back from the Pyrenees with some pretty bad scratches this year (as probably yours did Roger as you were right behind me - mostly my fault as well  ). I took it to a paint refinisher, mostly to get the bonnet resprayed (the metal flake paint on the bonnet had disintegrated under the lacquer), and got the car professionally polished. It looks like new now, all the scratched, including many I thought were quite deep are all gone.

I know you can do that only a few times, but once in 8 years is not bad.

I can't tell what new scratches I got in the Pyrenees this year - but I can't feel any new deep ones, so if I could be bothered I'm sure they would polish out - it hasn't been cleaned since and if it stays cold it won't anytime soon!

The wrap that Slips has got looks good :thumbright:
