Roof tent

Post by Stu » Sun Oct 26, 2014 8:11 am

Anyone bought a "cheap" roof tent.

There are a couple of small manufacturers that make roof tents that seem to be very similar designs to the big known brands but half the cost. I've looked at them and they look good to me, but I wonder if anyone has bought one and how they find it?

A member on the other channel has bought a tufftrek one, it very close in design to howling moon regarding flysheetfitment, quality is good too. I have one of their 270 awnings and I'm happy with that too Stu :thumbright:

Dara is a good guy and happy to talk about your needs and discuss his products

Talking of the other channel, it seems to be down at the moment. Unless it is now in a parallel universe and in a different time zone

I saw the tufftrek ones at L2B and they looks great.
I kept the contact card as I'll likely be heading their when / if I'm ever allowed to spend that amount of money!

Stu, you need a roof tent about as much as I need a caravan...

I'm not sure there is a lot of difference between cheap and expensive. A bit like the difference between an Audi and a Skoda, I think you could be paying a lot for a badge.

Richard - you're absolutely right, but I see you have a caravan!

i have a tuff trek one and awning.
great price at 995 inc the room underneath the rear of tent and also has a large door to the back of said room allowing access to the tailgate of the vehicle.

from what i can see this is pretty much the same as the arg one and when i asked tuff trek he said no comment as to other manufacturers but there tents are made in the same factory as other top brand named ones….
