You have a point Del, but it's much nicer to put a flat in the roof than have all that mud and :censored: in the car!

Front runner is very

At least the Prospeed looks smart for the 360 days a year there's nothing on it!

Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

I have always found the Expo rack to be more than good enough for luggage etc, they are always on Ebay so readily available and affordable. :rasp:

I like the Pro Speed.

Much less wind noise
Better mpg
Much better made than the expo
I have no problems loading it up with kit. I think I would consider a jerry can holder if I wanted to carry Jerry cans.

I have to say that I'm with Del in that I can't see why you need so much kit on the roof when there is only you in the car and I'm also with Richard in that you only have it loads occasionally and it's definitely the best rack to leave on permenantly.

Definitely one of the best looking (if not the best). But I use mine quite a few times a year - for both offroad trips where I prefer the wheel up top (as Clive says) along with recovery boards etc. Basically, all the dirty stuff. Also gets used on holidays when there are more of us travelling. And by the middle son for bike races. I just don't think it really meets the purpose of a flexible rack for what I would like. Strapping a couple of bikes to it is relativley easy but somehting like a Big Country/Front Runner would be easier still.

I also prefer to have stuff "out of the way" ie in the boot under the load cover with rest then on the rack. Maybe a bit pedantic...but that's my foible
As always, its all persoanl preference based on useage. :thumbright:

Anyway...first world problems and all that...

(And seeing as I am now going to have to pay for a hotel for a long weekend in London rather than use points because we left it too late to reserve means the money for a new rack has just been used  )

I've had the Big Country rack ever since owning my D3 ... and I wouldn't have any other now, not even a prospeed !!

Totally flexible for fixing anything you want to it
