Solar Panels
I ordered one of these the other day after Beanie received his 10amp version.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390858230545? ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Very very good price. I'm sure they won't be as efficient as some of the more expensive versions, but hey, it won't be for critical usage.
I ordered the higher amp version as I also won this on eBay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161415563665? ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
250w panel, will power the battery(s) that will provide the light for my workshop.
At 8amps coming in, that will be more than enough to keep them topped up even on the cloudy days.
Will let you know how it goes when the controller arrives. I'm picking the panel up late tomorrow afternoon.
It's a bit big for going on a trailer, although you could put it on the roof if you wanted to.

Re: Solar Panels
Ian - interested in what you think of the controller when it arrives. I thinking of ditching the little solar panel and getting one that will actually keep the aux battery charged and would need a controller

Re: Solar Panels
When the panel stops producing meaningful voltage, the controller can automatically switch on a source, like some led lighting
Beanie is running the 10amp version with a 80w panel which was a cracking £66 and the size is more suited to a car roof/trailer. My one is 1.6m long x 900 wide

Re: Solar Panels
Check the panel voltage before connecting up, think these 250w panels are 30v. They wire several of this size panel in series / parallel on the roof and bring it down to the inverter at 200-400v to keep the current down. Remember the regulator will auto sense, so will chuck out 24v from a 24-30v input.
Sure you know this ***t, but just in case!
Edit... It may auto sense from the battery, not the panel. But if the panel is 30v and you have a 12v battery you would be asking the regulator to dissipate a lot of power. Usual panel for 12v charging is around 17v.

Re: Solar Panels
The wording seems to suggest that it will accept 24v input and it will sense the output needed as 12 or 24 based upon battery voltage.
