Goodwinch???? cheap chinese toot also known as king winches i think, made out of melted down heinz bean tins with bubble gum gears...spend a bit extra on a super winch or ideally a warn, plus you need a 12000lb on a D3 ideally.
I had a hidden winch set up on my D3 and it was :censored:, you need to be able to see the drum otherwise you there is no point....mine was a total waste of money and it bent the mount the first time i used it and virtually ripped the bumper off
External all the way guys

Re: Gauging Interest: Battery / Winch Systems
Beg to differ on several fronts.........
Superwinch good
Goodwinch good as well and backed by some one you can talk to and who will fix and problems you have
Warn.. apart from the 8274, only good one is a dead one.
IMHO
As for winch mounts, external good on visibility, poor on approach angle... pros & cons.
I have the ARB winch bumper, never had a problem.
Cheers

Gary and I both got pulled up a 60% slope by a D2 with a 9000 lbs winch. Ate is with easeDefendersteve wrote:spend a bit extra on a super winch or ideally a warn, plus you need a 12000lb on a D3 ideally.

Re: Gauging Interest: Battery / Winch Systems
Up to you mate, just my opinion but 9000 aint man enough especially ting tong winches.com, i always buy the best i can or i dont bother, false economy to buy twice.
I have a 9000 on the 110 and it aint up to the job, and you have another 3/4 tonne with a D3.
Nick fair point with the approach angle, ARB would be the way i went if i used a D3 offroad again but it does detract from the clean lines a bit, but im sure most of the lads wont be using them for extreme stuff anyway so maybe a touch overkill.
To be honest a cheap base model with no air suspention etc would be a great base wagon as a play thing.
So...... for sale a nice 9000lb supawinch from me and ill get me 12000lb warn powerplant

Re: Gauging Interest: Battery / Winch Systems
The winch sits within the bumper much like a hidden mount on a D3 with the Arb? Probably not any more / less visable then a hidden mount?Non Stick Nick wrote:...I have the ARB winch bumper, never had a problem...
Could you get a 12,000llb behind the Arb (been looking for some dimensions of it but can't find any...was actually thinking about trying to copy one, but seeing as they are sub £1,000 now I figure there is little point.)
Thanks
