Look forward to your next update and to reading the illustrated book (if you ever get round to writing it) - keep on enjoying yourself :thumbright:

Anyone seen Iain Lambert at Offroad Essentials?

Post by GFour » Fri Sep 28, 2012 4:34 am

Hi All,

I thought I would try this as I have not heard from Iain Lambert at Offroad Essentials since I my alternator fell off in Germany and where it could have all ended in tears. All three bolts snapped off in the mounting leaving it completely free!!! (see my blog for the story and pics on this).

It was Iain that came down as a mobile LR specialist to assist me in the checking and servicing the car just before my big trip and to fix and in the end replace the EPB. During which he was very helpful talking through and showing me some tips, which unfortunately included removing the alternator.

I have tried to contact Iain regarding some reimbursement on the costs but have not had any reply from him since.
Not a good situation as he was also to be my expert for a 'Sat Phone" helpline for any emergency or technical advice.

I've got lots of miles to get around the world so need to address this A.S.A.P

Thanks

Julian

You've obviously got his contact details as you've used him before, guessing you've emailed him through his web site.

Of course its been more than a week. More like a month. Phone communication is poor and its not an emergency so have not used the expensive Sat Phone. But have emailed when I can. I have today tried a message via his Facebook page.

Julian, do you have contact details for some of us? I would suggest that just being able to reach one or two of us would enable us to reach out to the D3 community and find help and advice for you, but obviously you need phone details rather than email / websites.

We would either get answers from the forum, GTR or we could find someone that you could speak to. I do know others that have problems getting hold of Iain as he is very busy.

The guys at Challenger are well known to us and might be a good option for future remote support?

Thanks Stu.
I appreciate the support from here as always.
The best solution for me is to have someone that can talk me through and faults and fixes on the phone. The chances are that I will be remote away from standard phone signal and internet and will have to rely on the sat phone which is expensive. So really need someone who knows their stuff and is willing to help. I am happy as always to give support back by way of ad and write ups on my www site and blog.

But you never know I may not get any more problems..

Best wishes

Julian

UPDATE TIME

I won't say more about Iain Lambert after this (unless you privately message me) as he did eventually make contact with me but unfortunately his response has not been what I or most would have expected from any normal, sane or sober person and it is now a matter that I am regretfully referring to court.

So, putting that mistake and bad news behind me I am excited to tell you that I have made to Australia, and the next leg of my trek begins. I arrived in Melbourne and have been reunited with Tango. We had a great reception from Land Rover Australia and I also have met up with fellow G4 owner and compatriot Mile Stokes. But have to say top Aussie model and former Miss Universe does make for more attractive company.
