Website Host Changes

Post by anglefire » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:43 pm

At some point during the next week or so, we are changing the way we host the forum.

Essentially, it is going to be on our own "box", which will make it a lot easier to manage as we will have total control. The only thing that will be staying put for the moment is email - but that will also be looked at in the future.

This is going to mean the site will be down for sometime - we are hoping for less than 4 hours. This is because we cannot transfer the databases whilst they are still live, for obvious reasons.

To speed things along, a good internet connection is required - both up and download speed is everything - so this will be happening during the day - hopefully when people are mostly at work.

Some preparation has already been done - changes to the DNS the other week should make the switch to the new server relatively painless.

So, if you see the site down, don't be surprised. :thumbright:
