Re: GSM Boosters
Stu, check out the various networks WiFi calling. Needs to be up to date phones though. Karen's Iphone 7 is fine, my Galaxy S7 Edge is also fine. Iphone 6 doesn't have it, the 6s does. But it works a lot better than Skodafone's Sure Signal, especially on less than perfect broadband connections. We ditched the Sure Signal in favour of WiFi calling and it is a lot better on our wet string connection. We're all on Vodafone BTW.
I know EE do it and also O-Poo. Not sure about Three.

Re: GSM Boosters
Dom that was 5 years ago! Although I am now looking at options for the tintent! We were away recently and I had to put my phone on the roof to get a signal. I suspect a caravan is a bit like a Faraday cage.

I too and looking into some options for the tin tent, but more focussed around providing a more static wifi point that can use my phone as an internet gateway.
Not sure anything quite like that exists though

Yeah. Those kind of things do exist. When I get home I'll dig out the research I've been doing. Can't do it now as we're away with the tintent and there's bugger all 3g

Re: GSM Boosters
Right, back home. I've been looking at several options.
Option 1. Connect one device to the site's WiFi and then share it inside the caravan. Basically a high gain external aerial whcih can be mounted on place of the existing roof TV aerial thing if you want. Saves drilling holes and those TV aerials are poor on a good day so it's no loss.
https://www.motorhomewifi.com/catalog/i ... fi-system/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Option 2. Similar stuff but more aimed at 3g and 4g
https://www.wifionboard.co.uk/product-c ... home-wifi/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Option 3. Cheaper alternative which only does 2.4GHz W-Lan
http://www.solwise.co.uk/wireless-usb-p ... f-kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Plenty of others around. Basically you need a router rather than a booster. This will allow the internal hotspot to have multiple devices connected while the external side of it is only one device so places like Caravan Club sites where they charge you per device can't fleece you. If you can find a router which also does GSM/3G/4G then you have the choice of site wifi or cellular.

Re: GSM Boosters
When I fitted wifi to my D3 I went with Rich's recommendation, a 4G LTE router with external diversity LTE antennas, similar to :
http://www.ebuyer.com/543860-d-link-dwr ... -dwr-921-b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I then modded it to allow external wifi diversity antennas, all of which are on the back steel edge of my roof just before the tailgate gap (on the metal for the groundplane).
The 4G antennas are rarely totally foxed on giffgaff (o2) even when my phone has no bars, so those work great, however so far the external tuned wifi whips to be honest give very little range improvement over the 1" internal pcb track the router originally came with.
I can have up to 10 devices on this one, and it allows the SIM to have a security pin established so some scrote can't away with your data as well as the router if they break in.
If I'm using my work laptop I can just plug in an ethernet cable, which is great.
It's not the best thing since sliced bread as parts of it are not intuitive, but it does have a better firewall than any of the mifi boxes I've tried before (ZTE make a few) and its ability to get a signal in a valley even if it's a 1 bar Edge connection is nothing short of amazing.
Unless I can figure out where my issues are with the wifi twigs, I wouldn't recommend that mod. The 4gLTE external antennas I got to go with it are from Panorama, nice waterproof units from the yachting fraternity, again recommended by Rich and very fit for purpose .

Re: GSM Boosters
We are using a couple of those units Dom out here on the Discovery launch to get the IP radio back to HQ and they are really good for £120 ish. Signal when the phone says no!
We have Asus routers configured as VPN clients plugged into them to make the radio network. Found some good directional 4G antennas better than the Panoramas if not on the move, so ideal for caravan. I'll find link tomorrow when not typing on phone....

Re: GSM Boosters
I did find a TP Link 4G router with removable aerials that I thought might be good?
