fancy a bit of role play with your 4x4??????

Post by Non Stick Nick » Sun Jan 21, 2018 12:05 pm

G'day everyone & Happy New Year…..

Have you ever heard of a company called Safer Edge?

See here for an idea of who they are.. www.saferedge.com

They offer training for individuals, companies & their representatives who are going to possibly troubled areas of the the third would.

The training involves staged trips & scenarios in 4x4 vehicles.

The training takes place in Oxfordshire, around Farringdon.

Safer edge do not have 4x4’s and to date have relied upon rivers from local 4x4 response groups to supply them & drivers.

Demand is currently exceeding supply cannot supply. I have been asked if I know of any likely 4x4ers who might like to take part.

Is this something that our group might be interested in?

I have done 2 of these & it certainly opened my eyes as to what these people may go through.

The leader of the course is ex military & used to work out of Hereford!

I have dash cam footage of what's involved but am not willing to post this on line.

They do pay mileage & a daily fee for playing the roll of driver.

If you are interested, send me your email & mobile number & I will forward them to Mark Harrisson from BORG who is the driver co-ordinator. He will contact you & take it from there.

Regards & best wishes

Nick

Well that's both interesting and frustrating Nick!
It's exactly the kind of thing that I would be interested in helping out with and yet I've been giving up all my external activities as work is taking over my world :( People have been quitting under the strain so it's only a matter of time I guess 'till everything fails hard enough that it is finally addressed. Let's hope that's sooner rather than later!

Dom, just watch you don't work too much and end up ill because of it - you need some downtime.

I've made a conscious decision to try and keep my hours to sensible levels - given I don't get overtime except weekends - last year I reckon I did a month for free. And that was only up until september or thereabouts. Don't get me wrong, I mostly enjoy my job and it is flexible and can take time off when its a little quieter - it's just not that quiet very often!
