Eurotunnel

Post by anglefire » Sat Oct 08, 2016 10:36 pm

Just got to the tunnel after the drive up from near Barcelona and came around a bend to hit a wall of tyre smoke. Absolutely no visibility so hit the brakes and hoped nothing was in the smoke. :censored: :censored: will kill someone.

Not good Mark, there have been reports of this type of stupidity for a few months now, just trying to disrupt traffic and gain access to vehicles.

Best not to travel in the dark is the advice

Well that is one way. Other way is to hit the smoke wall at about 60 and hope!

I'm sure it's worse for the truckers as they can't stop. And I'm sure an illegal on the prospeed would be spotted!

I know how tired you must be feeling so please take care on your last leg of your journey.

On the last 2 trips I have driven non stop from the midlands to Perpignan in my defender and you begin to get of body experiences lol

It may have been due to the many cans of red bull though ?

Thanks Steve.

Back on blighty now - and it's raining.

169 miles to get to joes and then I'll have a kip before going home. Doing 2 hour shifts at the wheel so not been too bad.

Back at joes. Not many cars I'd like to do 1000miles in in less than 24hrs.

Where about was the tyre smoke? Contrast that wth 5 hours before, not a sign of trouble whatsoever apart from dozens of CRS vehicles at the Ibis parking lot. What a difference daylight makes.

After leaving you & Roger had a text chat with SWMBO & headed N rather than S. Time to head home. Also wimped out & got a hotel at Brive, when I passed the campsite I was going to stay at it was 2c & fog. Got to the tunnel at 5pm & just did some shopping, made dinner, watched a movie etc until my crossing at 20:50. Quiet as a gathering of church mice.

Glad I've got a decent sized car, the bottles were certainly chinking with many vino collapse boxes.

PS, good car got there OK. :thumbright:

If only I could think of something useful to type here!! :(
