Big fines issued to vehicles on the Plain today.....

Wiltshire Police were out on the Plain today issuing tickets to those “Driving elsewhere than on a road “

There is a £50 fine for driving off of marked byways.

There were a large number of 4x4's and motorbikes driving/riding off of marked byways, on the Driving Training area in particular.

In total 7 tickets were issued with 20 or so warnings given.

The army, in particular, are fed up with people misusing this facility and causing issues. There are also regular complaints from dog walkers/runners etc. of general bad or fast driving.

The police wish to remind the public of the consequences of this offence so that you do not become the recipient of the next £50 fine!

That is good news, if they don't stop it they will just end up having to close the lanes.

I always thought they took your car off you if you went into the driver training area.

You should read some of the stuff on the facebook post! It ranges from people moaning that the police have the time / resource to do this but not to sort out a stray dog to others who are outraged and think they should be able to drive wherever they like and of course those that want all byways closed.
