While I was at it I was gonna run a cable through the snorkel to the roof rack for lights. Has any of you done this and also where in the cab, dash have you put switches for this?

I have put a cable through mine for my lighthouse feature Vinny, but if you think about it, to get inside the snorkel in the first place you have to breach it in the engine bay which makes it a point of failure of the water-tightness. Not as big a deal for a raised air intake, but if you're serious about waterproofing it as much as possible then that's a possible point of failure. Mines switched from a remote control relay just behind the air-box, which isn't clever for roof lights, so I'll let others describe their switch set-ups

That's a good point about the waterproofing. So what's the favourite route to get power up to the roof?

Not forgetting that there is a hole in the bottom of the RAI where it joins the wing to let any water out that comes in the top. (Well mine does!)
IMHO you can't consider the RAI as an aid to deeper wading - it will stop splashes getting in, but then if you ware that deep in the water, you will have other issues anyway

Agree with what Mark says, once you're just at the level of the existing intake, the water is sliding into your transfer case ecu behind the battery. Once you're up to the top of the bonnet, water starts coming in through the air conditioning air intake into the cabin.
I waterproofed mine totally for my own sanity as I did suck mud splashes in and soaked the air filter at Salisbury (having not got near the 700mm limit) but the vehicle design says no to trusting any deeper than the spec.
I also nearly drowned my engine at Sibbertoft because the stopper in the airbox drain was removed without my knowledge, probably during a service. Just cos you know it's waterproof doesn't mean it is...

I nearly killed my D2 many times on pay and play and at billing. I am not ashamed to say for my D3 it all about the looks, I miss other land rovers waving at me on the road, lol
