Re: Who's going to be first then?
I'll be a lot happier when they put this into full production for road cars http://www.slashgear.com/bridgestone-br ... -05349181/ - although it'll need side walls to make it look sensible!
Michelin have got one in production for agricultural vehicles http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/new ... ction.html
But given that the pneumatic tyre was originally patented in 1846 it's about bloody time we had some more progress!

I could colour code my tyres for their use.
Black for roads, ice blue for winters and green for offroading. I like that idea.

Can't see there being a market for that Stu if I'm honest. Almost no bugger buys winter tyres and why would you want green offroad tyres?

Re: Who's going to be first then?
I think that for off roading we'll be waiting for the military version, which has a honey comb construction that allows it to take substantial damage before it fails. I'd also need to be convinced that the plastic doesn't harden at low temperatures and then shatter on the first pothole...

Easy to Jet Wash!
Mark - I wasn't serious about colour coded tyres! I think they will all look terrible.

Only until the Euro-nutters make them compulsory for our snowy winters! Strangely the tyre industry is quite keen, not sure whyanglefire wrote:Can't see there being a market for that Stu if I'm honest. Almost no bugger buys winter tyres and why would you want green offroad tyres?
