A good result for you Chris - fortunate that you got it resolved. Looked like it was an accident waiting to happen
'Endeavour' - Discovery 3 SE - sadly now gone but to a good loving home

Re: Sidewall splitting
It appears it's not that simple, Broadlane want me to pay for the tyres which they will claim back if everyone in the supply chain, Swift, the tyre distributor and Hankook agree they are at fault.
This sounds like the start of a long protracted wrangle to me.

Tell them to hold fire as you're waiting for Jezza Clarkson from Top Gear to take a look at them...
Your issue is with your supplier. They've provided you with defect tyres. They stump up. Simples.

So long as you bought them retail rather than trade, as Dom says, your beef is with the supplier, end of argument

Re: Sidewall splitting
It appears that the British Tyre Manufacturers Association has a com plants policy which involves handing the tyres back to the dealer, who passes it down the supply chain, this may take a couple of months I am told, if they agree there is a problem they will refund a % of the value of the tyre depending upon usage and I guess age, in the mean time I have to buy 3 new ones and pay for fitting balance etc if I want to use the van. what a con, the spare is unused, the 2 tyres on the van are hardly worn. there should still be 2-3years use in them even if I just replace because they are old.
Not happy.

Re: Sidewall splitting
Just an update on this,
Hankook have agreed the tyres - the two with the main cracks- are defective, although they will not give me a explanation of what is wrong with them, but they have refunded me for both tyres and fitting.
I now have to go through the same scheme with the spare tyre.

At least you're getting the money back, even if it has been more of a hassle than it should be.

Re: Sidewall splitting
Thanks for the update Chris. Like you, I would have been interested in some explanation from Hankook but at least you have a 66% result so far
