don't understand the appeal of a caravan....

Surely it's cheaper just to stay at home and move the family into the downstairs toilet for a week...you have the same space and amenities but not the fuel expense or hassle of holding up half of Europe as you drive up a hill somewhere in France...

(just kidding... sort of... )

I would tend to agree, it is cheaper to stay in a hotel. We only really did it because of SWMBO and her dog training, we are not allowed to put the dogs in a normal kennel so it is hard to get away. This way we can go whenever we feel like it and just bring them.

To be fair the caravans are more luxury than a hotel room now and the campsites good hooks ups now, so we just plug a hose into permanent water, waste in and electricity, so no carrying water around.

Also it is good practice for when I get another boat, SWMBO will be used to a smaller living space

If you ever need a dog sitter, give me a shout. It might help convince us one way or the other about having dogs. It also give me more justification for the dog guard!

I've got a mate with a husky - the thing is derranged. Stupidly bouncy, I'm not sure it gets enough exercise.

In fact as I type this it makes me think of Neil

you'rs most probably right, it's a shame that 99% of husky owners in this country have absolutely NO idea how much exercise they need, let alone the specific breed needs..

our's came from a racing team, she pulled from 8 weeks, (small log behind her harness) and still pulls now, purely as a way of tiring her out,

she'll do the camel trail from weydbridge to padstow and back in about 4 hours, i wont turn a pedal, she'll pull me the whole way,

on average she gets over 90 miles a week, a really good week will be 120 miles...

the biggest mistake owners here make is they assume they need to feed high protein food as it's an eneergetic dog, but that only works if they're getting the exercise, if not then it's a slippery road to destruction and mind going nuts..

rant over..

ours is as good as gold, you'll get a day when she doesnt want too much exercise, but boy you better make up for it the next day..

they also don't do solitary at all, hate it, they get separation anxiety, they NEED the pack

otherwise they're no bother at all..... ;)
