Wild Camping

Post by boodog » Wed Dec 23, 2015 3:05 pm

At the Salisbury Christmas weekend there was talk of wild camping in mid Wales in January. Anyone know if this is going ahead?

No idea. Can't say I heard about it. You do need to be careful that wild camping is legal. There are designated wild camping sites. Generally above the tree line is accepted as OK although technically not. Scotland is ok though basically you can wild camp pretty much anywhere.

Not sure if it's legal or not but I got the impression it's legal to get there but then ever so slightly off piste to pitch the tents

Generally it's not an issue if it's far enough from habitation. I've wild camped in Wales a few times without issue. Generally up high enough to be of no interest.
