DIY D4 Service B (128k)
Afternoon all
Just had a quote exceeding £550 for a service so think I'll be heading to AF for a kit.
Question I have is about oil extraction. Should I get the oil to temp and try to extract as much as possible by removing the old filter, sump plug, etc., or go for the vacuum extraction method?
If vacuum is recommended, is there a club vacuum. And I'm not talking Henry!

Get the oil warm and drop it from the bottom plug would be my suggestion - its how I always did mine.
Once its mostly out, then unscrew the oil filter - with some absorbent rag to mop the spills. The filter will come out with the housing and you will have to pull it out with something hooky - its quite tight!
When you refit the filter, put it in the right place on the base (There is a lug, which is the oil feed) and then screw the cover back on, then refill.

Just don't forget a new copper washer - you can get away with reusing - but it is best to renew given you don't know if it was reused last time!

No copper washer on oil drain, it’s a rubber seal.

I've only ever had rubber o-ring type for the sump nut - maybe earlier that 2007MY had copper?
