Having not knowingly used the FBH in my D3 in five years of ownership, with this cold weather thought I’d give it a go.
It started with a lot of smoke but then stopped fairly quickly. Just checked the IID and this fault is showing.
L319 - Discovery 3 2007
Vehicle scanned on 12-12-2017 13:09
Using IIDTool BT V3.0 B2272
Auxilary Heater
B1D29-93 (2E) No start, even after restart attempt - Component failure - no operation
I’m guessing this means it’s probably FUBARed or has anyone got any thoughts on cleaning / stripping it down at all.
TIA
Trevor

Re: Another FBH Problem
There's a guide to stripping and servicing the FBH on the DISCO3 forum.

Re: Another FBH Problem
And meant to add.....
Mine was a bit iffy about running for more than a few minutes so, using the BAS FBHIC (original version), I cleaned the faults and fired the FBH up - as soon as the first firing started I sprayed some Eazi-Start down the intake and, so far, it kicks in OK.
Might be worth a try before you go too deep into its guts??

Re: Another FBH Problem
Easy start, brake cleaner or just a low pressure airline can all help start up an Fbh.

Re: Another FBH Problem
I've seen people blow down the air intake pipe whilst it's starting too...not sure if the diesel can backfire like petrol but still don't fancy that!
