Is it smaller?

Post by Stu » Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:45 pm

Is the fuel tank on the D4 smaller than the D3? I don't seem to be able to get 80 litres in. In the D3 I'm pretty sure I could when it was empty.

Is it 80 litres versus 86 on the D3? Marginal but I do think the D4 is smaller.

It contains 82.3 ltrs - but the computer will show it empty when it has some left to avoid HPFP issues by running dry. Its the same size as the D3 apparently.

I can get less in the D4 than in the D3. No matter how empty the D4 is when I fill it up.

I think the D4 thinks it has less in than it does really - something like 3ltrs I read - so on an 82ltr tank, you'll never get more than 79ltrs in - excluding the pipe!

Yeah, but I don't know if the D3 will let the fuel actually run out or stops at say a 1ltr left - and I assume you filled right to the top of the filler pipe?

My D3 is fitted with a D4 tank and it has always seemed to me that it holds more now than it did with the old tank. But that could just be me...

If I fill it right up it's only until the first 'click' but I've regularly put more than 80lt in. I was told the pipe work was also changed for D4 piping.

It cough and spluttered and gave HPFP type issues with Xmas tree on the dash. I had to purge it to get it restarted once I'd put fuel in so I'd say it was bone dry TBF. And yes, I brimmed it to get the 85 litres in
