New tent needed
Ok, so the ever present Oz-tent rv1 setup is being collected this afternoon, so I have some money for a new tent. I'd only used it twice last year and it's too bulky for my needs at the moment.
So I want something Easy to put up, so may consider a decent pop up plus another tent for when I need something bigger than a pop up (but not massive)
Suggestions please.

Re: New tent needed
The pop up I have is very good, for2. It''s a 3 man but that is very tight! When I get back I'll find what model it is.

Re: New tent needed
Depends what you prefer, as you know from Durler etc I just go with my lightweight North Face 2 man tent, which is considerably lighter, smaller and cheaper than the monstrosities of RV's etc! It is also a lot easier to put up and down. Doesn't provide much social space though! Does the job, chuck it in the back of the car, job done.

Mine is the 2" xl air. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/2-seconds-xl ... 47892.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No social space, but the awning on the car covers that
Not a good shape to get in the car, but got two similar tents and 4 people in the car when we went to Poland last year.

Re: New tent needed
There's lots of opinions And you should know the first question - what's your criteria ? And you've answered it yourself...quick'n'easy is going to be pop-up.Bodsy wrote:No one else has views on tents.....? I can't for one minute believe that......
But personally, I would go with Tony's advice. A "regular" tent might be a bit more effort in putting up/taking down but its got to be easier to pack as opposed to a great big disc. Plus if it is sopping wet you can lay the tent out, even spread out the fly sheet in the car when driving. Can't do that with a pop-up Get a two-man with decent porch space.
(But when you get to a certain age it really is good to have an RV/Jet Tent that you can put a bed in and stand up in )

Re: New tent needed
Proper camp cot with foam mattress, room for table & chair, can stand up in, what's not to love! As for packing, it has this extra carry box on the left.
If only I could think of something useful to type here!!
Re: New tent needed
Was just about to post similar to John, for me being able to stand up a tent makes a big difference. But I can also agree that Oztents are not especially lightweight or space saving.

Just ordered a Wild Country Hoolie 3
It'll be fine for most of the bits I need generally.

Re: New tent needed
Sorry only just seen this. I bought Harry an MSR tent last year and I've been very impressed with it. However it does depend on your needs. You might not need it to be as lightweight and may prefer more space / storage etc. Most of the geodesic tents are good in bad conditions.
As for a pop up, they are great and I've been very pleasantly surprised by our ones. Quecher from decathlon are the best in my opinion and I believe they brought pop ups to market. Loads of different models and options. One with a small porch is useful for taking you shoes off etc. I've got a 1,2 and 3 man one. The one man is too short and my feet don't really fit in it but other than that they're all good. The area great for drying too as you can pop them up a lunch stops etc. Not as easy to pack away as they are disc shaped although some discs can be quite small.
