Cheap jet boil

Post by Stu » Fri Aug 28, 2015 8:33 am

Ok not an actual jet boil but an Alp Kit one.

https://www.alpkit.com/products/brukit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Alp kit was started by a couple of guys who used to work for RAB. I've got a bit of their kit and it is very good.

I've not got the brukit that I've linked to but I'd imagine it will be good and on a par with a Jet boil for less than half the cost. Id buy one if I could think of a reason to!

Watch the size on the imitation jetboils, was looking at Mark's Maple Fire thingie and it's a fair bit bigger so ain't going to fit in the nice handy D3 door pocket water bottle holders. :whistle: :whistle:

And it was a bit on the slow side, important for us peeps that are time poor. :hello:

Not sure how your life would cope if you had to wait an extra 10 seconds for the water to boil! It would probably the lead story on News at 10!

I've got one as has Joe - worked a treat in Poland for the obligatory brew stops.

As for speed - probably hadn't turned it up far enough Del :rasp:

I put mine in a Really Useful box, with the gas, tea/coffee and spoon - and use Contiga thermal mugs to actually brew in, so the door pocket issue is irrelevant!

Mind you the poor thing deserved a medal keeping up with the brew demands!!

Still like my old fashioned kettle on top of the burner, might not be as quick as a JB but it whistles cheerfully at you when it's done. :mrgreen:

Always a fan of Allkit :thumbright: My only criticism is they always run out of stock of the good stuff so quickly (although Mrs JF Lux would not seecthst as a problem... :lol: )

I've ordered one.
For someone who doesn't drink a vast amount of hot drinks, the JB was a seriously expensive gadget.
SWMBO will no doubt really appreciate this though

Well I saw Daves on at L2B and it look pretty decent. I'm tempted to get one myself but don't really need it. I've got a bit of a thing for stoves!
