Problem with ‘reconditioned’ 3.0 engines is you can’t really get all the parts to do it fully. Many companies saying they can do it, but I find it hard to trust them.

I ended up replacing with a new LR engine (albeit 2.7)
The 3.0 from LR is an astronomical price....

That’s the problem jlr price on the 3.0 is far to high, I do now that jlr are doing a remanufactured unit like the 2.7 but not available yet
This why was looking at reconditioned engines
Surely people on here have tried some companies just looking for honest opinions

Louis,

No one I know on here has had a 3ltr reconditioned - or if they have haven't said. Looking at other forums and facebook, I've yet to see anyone have a good result from reconditioning suppliers - though not specifically the ones you mention.

Mostly because they can't get the bits as there are plenty of engine rebuilders out there, but JLR don't seem to want to release the internals especially for their engines, except to their approved engine remanufacturer.

There remanufactured 2.7 engine is very reasonably priced but I bet they 3.0l will be loads more but will have to wait and see. Otherwise it’s a 2nd hand engine more risk, I have spoke with Landrover they say best repair is short engine from Landrover then get turbos and heads checked also something about the part where you fill the engine with oil something to do with the seal or valve has to be changed but will find out more if I take this route

About £10k I think. The remanufacturer has been working with JLR for many years and has got them to bring the price of the 2.7 down - but not the 3 yet.

You do get a 2year unlimited mileage warranty with the LR supplied engines though.

The remanufacture company I was talking about was autocraft they are just doing the 3.0 they have been doing the 2.7 for a while
I’ve got the new lr part number but showing not available I think it’s november they come for sale
I’ve tried dan at duckworths he’s checked he stating the same unadvailble
Short engine off lr they quoted 3800 plus vat which I did think was reasonable just wish I was vat registered so 3800 flat

That's the one - Perhaps £10k is for a new one off the line then. £3.8k is much more reasonable (But still a heck of a lot of ££)

Mind you I've just bought a new lens for my camera - I'll not say what I've paid for that

10k is the full (bare) engine. 3.8 is the short engine. :thumbright:
