Can someone with a LR RAI try and explain what he has done to the top?
I can see where he has cut, but it looks as if there might of been holes there anyway (else where else does it breath from?).
Very confused as to what he has done, let alone why!
I also assume you can't buy the top separately from any parts place, therefore its all or nothing with this one?

All that's been done is the cap has had the slots cut out. Mine has the rebated slots which are uncut, not sure which mine is though as LR did produce them with the slots cut out. They stopped doing it as at speed the cap whistles with wind rushing through.

The actual air is taken from the rear of the top piece. All he has done has cut out slots on the front. I *think* the first RAI design did have open slots.

My RAI has the slots cut open. So if that is the only cutting done to the top piece then it is perfectly usable :thumbright:

I can only speak for mine - I have no whistle or significant noise. Even at 110mph (in Germany, I hasten to add).

But I can see how there might be a whistle in some cases :thumbright:

It's only what I heard from others when I questioned the slots being open. There must be a optimum speed and engine speed that'll cause it.

Nethertheless, its nothing to worry about.

In which case its on my watch list! Doesn't look too much work to tidy up the cutting and I'm sure at work case I can find some of plastic stuff bodsy mentioned and fill in the gaps if needed
