Gatco Carbide Sharpner group purchase

Post by Non Stick Nick » Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:16 am

I was given one of these by Father Christmas..
http://www.gatcosharpeners.com/product/ ... arbide.mgi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is an amazing bit of kit. I have done all my pocket knives & multi tools, all the kitchen knives & all the kitchen knives of Maureens girls.

This normally sells for the £15 mark on the web, plus postage etc.

If we can get a bulk order for 10 units I can do them for £12 each all in.
Delivery via the courier network or exchange at a meet. Postage would be extra.

Any interest?

Hi Bodsy,
Not quite the same model.
Bit like comparing Donkeys & Meercats, they both have 4 legs but... :D

Can't see your link as it's restricted by the stasi, but searched for Gatco Carbide Sharpener...

Can you put a pick on here?

The only limitation with this sort of sharpener is you're restricted to knife blades.

Must admit I've always used a diamond whetstone on all my fishing knives, kitchen knives and things like plane and chisel blades and been more than happy with the results. I've got a 6" flat that is thin and is protected by fold out handles.

Even use it to put a point back on blunt hooks (we're talking sea fishing - not coarse....).

Neil could even use it to do his nails on.......

As I can never get my Knives sharp, I'd be up for one of them :thumbright:

I have to take them to my Dad who has a rotary oiled grindstone - its about a 2' diameter wheel - used for sharpening chisels before honing on the wetstone :thumbright: He gets them razor sharp - but a bit of a faff having to take them over to his.

Picking up on Kens point, I really prefer to use a proper stone and do so for all my knives, domestic and bush. You can't get a better, sharper fInish than on a proper stone.

However, for a quick field sharpen, these woUld be sufficient ( but I'd get a bit oCD about resharpening them properly when I got home. )

I'll have one Nick :thumbright:

I use a chantry sharpener around £30 but well made and will last forever. If you're stuck the edge of the car window works well!!! I kid you not.
