Hi,
Has anyone any experience of using the Thule 9403 bike rack? It's a tow hitch mounted unit carrying 3 bikes with built in tail board/lights.
I have the detachable tow hitch and just bought some bikes for the family. Wondered if anyone had had problems with this rack or indeed with this type of mounting in general? Or tips for protecting the tailgate from getting scratched.
Thanks.

My neighbour has a towball mounted rack on he back of his D4 - not sure the make though. As long as you don't forget to lower it, it is fine.

I have an Altera 4 bike one, megabucks but does the job just fine. Probably very similar.

Re: Thule 9403 bike rack?
Well I've bought the Thule and used it a couple of times.
It was pretty easy to put together, feels well designed & engineered (for a few bits of extruded metal & bolts lol) and goes on the hitch without a problem.
Once fitted the whole rack can be tilted back, even with bikes fitted, I can say that with my 3 bikes on the rack and tilted I can still open the boot hatch fully on my D3 so as to get stuff from the boot. Re securing prior to driving is simply a couple of turns of a bracket.
