Can you reccomend a good magnetic aquarium algae glass cleaner ?

Tried a few over the years and can't find a decent one

A good slug of bleach in the water seems to clear the tank...completely....

Caustic soda works well on really tough slime!

I always use one of the non-scratchy kitchen scourers, as recommended by my local fish shop! Works far better than the magnet jobbies

Cliff, as CDS says, the green kitchen scrubby things are best fella. I tried a few magnetic ones and the best seems to be the magfloat, but even this isn't a patch on a green scrubber.

I do it when the tank's half empty at water change time so it's not so deep and then I drain off more water to get rid of the water borne algae.

All a balls ache to be honest but plecs seem to love it when it's that time.

Oh, don't get tempted by the fat max magnetic ones though. The magnet's so strong it scratches the glass. :thumbright:

Dunno if it helps Dom & Cliff. As you know the FIL just sold his tank as he moved into a Bungalow. I asked him how he kept the glass clean and he said the same as Aquariams keep theirs clean :?: , he said two magnetic cleaners, one with a well used cut to size scotch bright, and the other with a felt.

Gotta be honest, his glass was always spotless but I'm no expert and just offering what he did for 40 odd years.

Ahhhh, you might have summat there Jase.

So, take the magfloat and cut a bit of the green scrubby stuff to fit that, then use as normal. I'm off to try that now. :thumbright:
