Spent the day altering our heating, so as to zone it correctly. 50% of the house is now done, the result will be that every room will be individually thermostatically controlled, locally and via an App. :)

I've gone for Heatmiser. It's very stable, I've never had any issues with their kit, and it gives me the options of wired and wireless where needed :thumbright:

Looks interesting - can't see any trv's in their range - but I guess they will control third party ones?

My boss has just installed the Schneider system (Danfos actually) and that is wireless with a couple of trv's. all controllable via your phone. He likes it.

Home automation is going to get better as they get the costs down and the number of devices up - but I do think they need to find a standard protocol - its bad enough in commercial where there are at least 3 wireless standards. Non of which talk to the home stuff!

I'm not a fan of wireless kit. I much prefer it wired, so I'm gradually piping every radiator back to manifolds, then 230volt actuators on the manifold.
I'm using their Neostat range, so the only wireless bit, is it's own 'network' to a Hub that connects to the router :thumbright:

Wireless is ok in the right application - for most people wiring to TRV's is not an option!

I've replaced my circulation pump today - didn't seem to be working properly - and I've wanted a variable speed one for a long time - so bought a Grundfos Alpha 3 - the bluetooth dongle will be delivered next week, so should be able to balance all the rads properly. Not a cheap option compared to a standard pump - but should save some money in the long run - though doubt it will ever pay itself back. But its a gadget and I like gadgets - I also rewired it so it is controlled by my control system rather than the boiler - so I can overrun it when I want to and run it for frost.

I also fitted some K&N filters, short stubs, and changed the needles in the carb as the ones I have in are too lean - I got a choice of 3 different needles to try from a Triumph forum member for the cost of the postage and a donation to charity - even with what I gave to RNIB I got a good deal.

For a minute there I was trying to think how you'd upgraded your heating to have K&N Filters
