Many a time I have just folded the centre wire back over the pin if my iron had run out of gas.. Works just fine. (only if centre core is sranded, not single core!!).
If it's a temp installation it saves the plug for another day! Not recomended in the marine environment!

Never had a squeek or a buzz in 3 years, and use it everytime it's parked. (Will now though ). But then I rarely get mine muddy..
Would feel a bit vunerable without it, especially with engine failure on a hill when the auto would not hold it!

It's easy really, have a go! Must have put 1000's of those on now but use the crimp ones. Have a practice with some spare cable out of the car, the plugs are only a £1 each. It's a bugger to run the cable through the car with the plugs on!

It is a coax cable, ie inner core with a copper 'screening' braid. I assume you will need to screw the new plug into the underside of the new mount? The plugs are pretty easy to put on but ideally need soldering. I'll have a surf and see if I can find some pic's on the net how to put the plug on. It...
